The Soccer Coach Manual: America SCORES

An Effective Practice

Description

America SCORES has created a unique soccer curriculum which is implemented in SCORES elementary after-school soccer practices. The soccer coach manual is a tool for positive youth development that includes two full-season planners. Drills, scrimmages, practice activities are outlined in the manual. Through learning the fundamentals of soccer through the SCORES program, students also learn inclusiveness and healthy competition. The principals of teamwork, leadership and commitments are practiced on and off the field. Students also play against students from other schools in their district in non-results oriented matches.

A comprehensive health education program is also included in the manual. Students learn how to make informed decisions about their health and through nutrition, physical activity and safety-focused games. The SCORES program meets the National Health Education Standards. The program has been implemented in over 15 cities and in over 200 public elementary and public schools.
