Baystate-Springfield Educational Partnership (BSEP)

A Good Idea

Description

The Baystate-Springfield Educational Partnership encourages and provides support to children and adolescents who want a career in healthcare. Elementary school students are connected with Baystate employees, who provide mentorship and serve as positive role models, through a weekly lunchtime session. Older students at the middle and high school level are supported with math and science instruction and internship or job-shadowing opportunities.

Goal / Mission

The goal is to guide students from underserved communities towards careers in healthcare, simultaneously fulfilling workforce needs.

Results / Accomplishments

Since 2006, 750 students have successfully completed BSEP programs. 75% of these students went on to attend college and more than 45 have taken jobs within Baystate Health.
